Here's a proposal made by the London Cycling Campaign in Hackney to Hackney Council's Learning and Leisure directorate - a ten-point action plan for sustainable access to leisure. We have made it in response to a public consultation by the directorate, at which Director Kevin Crompton asked for our help in moving towards a less motor-dependent service.

The Council is asking our views on:

  • MILLFIELDS RD / CHATSWORTH RD / POWERSCROFT RD - PROPOSED DOUBLE MINI-ROUNDABOUT
  • DOWNS PARK ROAD - PROPOSED CONTRAFLOW AND TRAFFIC CALMING
  • ROWHILL ROAD - PROPOSED CONTRAFLOW
  • MILLFIELDS RD / CHATSWORTH RD / POWERSCROFT RD - PROPOSED DOUBLE MINI-ROUNDABOUT

Call Cycling Officer Liam Mulrooney for further details on 0171-418 8221. Closing date for comments is 10th February, apart from the Downs Park Road one, for which comments should be in on the 4th. It's well worth writing to say that you're in favour, and examining the plans for the devil in the detail.
