training in the October/November
issue of London Cyclist magazine. Read
it in PDF format (785KB). The
article also features our treasurer Brenda being trained and saying she
learnt a lot - and this from someone who's been cycling in London for
15 years.

Parking
Our next monthly meeting, on Wednesday 6th July, will feature a special
workshop on Hackney's new parking policy, which sounds promising not
only because it contains policies on how vehicle parking affects
cycling (eg minimising 'dooring' and improving junction safety), but
also because it includes cycle parking within its remit. Symon Sterne,
parking and enforcement plan manager, will be our guest, together with
councillors who have responsibility for and an interest in the issue.
See our meetings
page for where and
when.
Health
We
have submitted our
response (322KB in PDF format)
to the City and Hackney Primary Care
Trust's health improvement draft programme. Local GP and former Hackney
Cyclists co-ordinator Douglas Carnall was the major contributor to this
response.

Hackney Council just been consulting on crime and disorder. We were
disappointed to see that the latest audit fails to include the serious
effects of criminal, hazardous and anti-social behaviour of road users. We are once
again requesting that road user crime be taken seriously as a matter of
community safety. Read our
response in PDF
format.
