This coming Saturday, 30th October, you are invited to a benefit event for Hülya Türkmen, an employee of the Learning Trust in Hackney, who recently suffered a severe injury in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle on her way between under-fives projects. There's an excellent line-up of music, food and drink, so do come along. Details..

The National Cycle Network route 1 in Hackney progresses, with construction beginning on the new path linking the Red Path and Homerton Road via Mabley Green.

Minutes of our May meeting are now available. Items discussed included what to do for Bike Week (which you can also check out on our diary page), what we plan to spend money on in the year ahead, and our suggestions to the council (4KB PDF file) for spending in 2005/06.

We've submitted a response (a mere 10KB in PDF format) to the council's consultation on its draft Community Strategy. As we say in the response, we would like Hackney's Community Strategy to set out ways in which we can build on the present levels of cycling and make Hackney 'London's cycling borough'.

Improvements are proposed at two points on LCN+ route 9: the junction of Pitfield Street and New North Road, and a proposed contraflow lane north up Paul Street. Details here.
